Through active participation and continuous development of the company Health, Safety, and Environment management system the company will ensure that personnel return home safely.
Working closely with our clients and our Certificate of Recognition certifying partner HSE requirements, Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP has become a notable service provider to the Wildfire industry. This has been achieved via company-initiatives directed at orientating, training, development of Safe Work Procedures, and utilizing engineering, administrative controls.
Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP makes certain that no individual performing work on behalf of the company will participate in company work operations without an in-house orientation. This said orientation includes, but not limited to company rules and expectations, employee rights and responsibilities under the applicable OHS legislation, drug and alcohol program, Safe Work Job procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
With assistance from the Saddle Lake Human Resources Department the latest wildfire training techniques and required certifications are furnished to our local membership. In addition to this, training in Firetach and Fallers Level Three (3) are supplied by accredited training institutions (Norquest/Portage/Alberta Construction safety Association) to both member and non-member personnel.
Safe Work Procedures
Through active input from our wildfire personnel and assistance from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP has accumulated an extensive catalogue of company-specific safe work practices for our company personnel to review and perform. These said procedures are reviewed and modified as work tasks and as new hazards change.
As work tasks change and unforeseen hazards become evident to Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP company personnel so does the mentality and awareness of those who perform work operations on the company’s behalf. Hazard assessments are performed daily as per company and client HSE programming requirements. These documents are then reviewed and enacted by all applicable company operations personnel.
