Andrew Cardinal – Business Manager
Andrew has been employed in the oil and gas industry focusing on Safety and Operational Management for 25 years. Andrew has been involved in drilling exploration, boring, coring, pipeline, chemical plants, and logistics industries. Beginning as a field level HSE Advisor he worked his way up to being a Corporate Health, Safety, and Environment Manager for 3 (three) major oil and gas companies. Management experience has been the focus of late for Andrew as he has been Manager for a key player in oilfield hauling for the past few years. Andrew’s networks and ability to negotiate business dealings brings added value to a reputable outfit.

Tianna Cardinal – Office Manager/Finance
Tianna started her tenure with Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP in 2013 in the reception position. In 2015 through her work ethic and willingness to take on new duties, she was promoted to the Office Manager and Finance for the company.
With the new duties that have come with her advancement in the company so to has the requirement to gain additional training. Tianna has accrued formal training in Quickbooks Levels 1 and 2, Bookkeeping, Administration, and Notetaking.
Tianna is a testament of promotion within Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP and has gained many friends along the way with her approachability, dedication, and knowledge.
Ron Cardinal – Human Resources
Ron joined the team in 2020 as Human Resources. Born and raised in the Saddle Lake First Nation, Ron knows many people within the Nation which is an asset in contacting and selecting work crew personnel. His ability to learn and retain new information has allowed him to excel at his position in a very short time
Prior work experience with Canada Post as a Post Master also have given Ron the ability to file, organize, and work in tight timelines with ease. Communication and interaction skills have been developed working as a Child Welfare Supervisor and are both requirements to perform his duties effectively and efficiently with attention to detail.
Kelvin Bird – Maintenance Technician
Kelvin joined the company in April 2020. Kelvin brings with him a wealth of automotive experience to Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP and is a 4 Year Journeyman Certified Mechanic. Working in parts ordering to performing minor repairs on vehicles he has made an immediate positive impact to the fleet maintenance element of the company business.
To compliment, Kelvin has amassed a great deal of formal machinery operating experience and is fully trained in Mulcher Operator, Skid Steer Operator, and Heavy Equipment Maintenance. This has benefitted the company by having sound advice given in mentoring our internal operators, in the purchasing. of equipment, and organization of documentation for Quality Assurance auditing purposes.
Ellery Cardinal – Maintenance/Human Resources Analyst
Ellery has been an employee for Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP since 2013. Starting out as a Firetack member, Ellery received Leadership Training provided by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry: Experience working in the oilfield has given Ellery knowledge on working with the maintenance of vehicles and small engine equipment.
Today, Ellery has moved into the role of Assistant for the Human Resource and Maintenance divisions of the company. His experience working as a Firetack member has given the opportunity to know first-hand of the requirements and necessities of performing Wildland Firefighting. Ellery is a valuable addition to our team and will continue on into the future.
